Hostess Gift Ideas: Thank You
I love giving cute hostess gifts when we’re invited over to someone’s house. Hostess gifts are a quick way to say “thank you” to a generous host. They can be as simple as a sweet little set of napkins or as hefty as a fancy copper ice bucket. The best part about hostess gifts is that they don’t have
to be expensive to make a big impact. Not sure when to bring a hostess gift? Check out this post about Hostess Gift Etiquette.
The whole point of a hostess gift is to give the hostess a token of your appreciation of her efforts to host your event and to give her a little something to either make the event easier to host (think: bottle of wine) or something she can use later.
First: a few tips for when you give your hostess gift.
Wrapping is optional. Sometimes a bow is plenty of wrapping for a hostess gift. Especially if it’s a gift she will want to use for the event.
Greet your hostess before handing her a gift.
Give her the gift privately if possible. You don’t want to make other guests feel bad if they didn’t think about bringing a gift.
Don’t expect your hostess to open the gift immediately. She’s probably wide open in hostess mode and will open it later.
Let me let you in on a little hostess gift giving secret: hostess gifts can be cheap. You don’t have to bring a hostess gift from Williams-Sonoma to be invited back!
I’m talking a cute coffee mug with your favorite tea or coffee stashed inside will do the trick. As long as you bring a gift with thoughtfulness and intention, your gift will be well-received.
But, just to make your job easier, I’ve found a few of my favorite hostess gift ideas for thank you gifts on Amazon. These also make amazing unique housewarming gift ideas.
I like to have a few of these ordered ahead of time on hand in my storage closet to have ready for those random times I realize I need a last-minute hostess gift and don’t have time to run out to the store or order something online.
